Reggae artist Jo Mersa Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson, dies at 31
Joseph Marley, the eldest son of eight-time Grammy winner Stephen Marley and second grandchild of reggae legend Bob Marley
South Florida radio station WZPP reported that the artist died of an asthma attack.
Joseph Marley was born in Kingston on March 12, 1991
The third-generation Marley grew up surrounded by music, performing onstage at age 4 with Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers
At the age of 11 he moved to Florida where he studied studio engineering
Joseph made his official musical debut in 2010 with “My Girl,” a collaboration with his older cousin Daniel Bambaata Marley
The breakthrough track “Bad So” followed in 2012, and his debut EP “Comfortable” was released in 2014.
His Grandfather and the legend Bob Marley died on 11 May 1981, aged 36, due to the spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain. His final words to his son Ziggy were: "Money can't buy life."
