The Miami Dolphins accomplished the unthinkable on Sunday, rallying from a 21-point fourth-quarter deficit against the Baltimore Ravens to earn their second win of the season. All-star receiver Jaylen Waddle, who finished with 171 receiving yards, played hero when he caught Tua Tagovailoa’s game-winning TD. But, not everything was so simple. Speaking to Pro Football Talk after the contest, the former Alabama standout revealed that he added “a little remix” to the piece that was actually called:
“I kind of added a little remix to it, I’m not gonna lie,” Waddle said. “But like Tua said in the huddle man, it’s us or them right now, and we got the win.”
After all, Waddle and Tua played together in Bama. There’s already a sense of familiarity between them, especially after the last season as well. If you look at the video, the play that Tagovailoa called was a crossroads where Waddle cut to the outside. But when he couldn’t find an opening, the WR went back in, where the QB hit him right on the hull.
The beginning of the Dolphins could not be better. They’ve looked absolutely electric, with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill already proving to be one of the best receiving duos in the NFL, if not the best. Both players had more than 170 yards through the air on Sunday, setting an NFL record. Waddle already loves playing with Hill and said he helped him learn a lot:
“Tyreek is great,” Waddle said. “A great teammate, a great person to look up to, honestly. It is rare that you are a fan of someone and when you play with him early in your career. He sets the tone not only for the group, but for the offense as well.”
The Dolphins will look to improve to 3-0 next Sunday against the Super Bowl favorites Buffalo Bills.
